I'm a Japan-based freelance Japanese-to-English translator specializing in anime, video game, film (screenplay/subtitles), manga, and other dialogue-heavy translations. While translating in-game dialogue is my specialty, I also translate text for all other aspects of video games, such as tutorials, menus, and even press releases and developer interviews. I have done translation and/or editing work on video games in a variety of genres (e.g., role-playing, action, social) on a number of platforms (e.g., Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Vita, iOS, Android). I also have experience translating (i.e., producing English subtitle text for) anime.
In addition to majoring in Japanese at the University of Michigan, I have passed the highest level (i.e., level 1) of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) and have completed a course in Japanese to English translation. I take pride in my ability to write natural sounding translations. I have been a full-time translator since 2010.
